Meet the Board of Education
Chairman Justin Davis
Justin Davis has served on the Ipswich Board of Education since 2010. He is an Ipswich High School Graduate, received his BS in Ag Business from SDSU in 2000. Justin worked for Prescription Agronomics in Ipswich for 5 years before returning to the family farm. He served 6 years in the House of Representatives in the South Dakota Legislature, served 2 years as Vice-Chairman of the Ag and Natural Resources Committee and served on the Appropriations Committee for 2 years. He is currently serving on the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council. He is also a 10 year member of the Ipswich Fire Department and a past president of the Ipswich Commercial Club. His wife, Courtney, and he have three children Ava, Brody, and Edy.Justin Davis's term on the Ipswich School Board will expire in 2019.
Vice-Chairman Todd Hettich
Todd Hettich was elected to serve on the Ipswich School Board in June, 2017. He is a graduate of Aberdeen Central. He served in the USAF for 4 years as an Air Weapons Controller. Thereafter, he worked for GTE & MIT in the Marshall Islands for 5 years tracking satellites and supporting missiles testing. Todd currently works for a major information technology company in the Aerospace and Defense industry (25 years) as a director in the applications development field. He holds three degrees: MBA, BAM, and an IT technology degree. Todd is married to Christina Hettich. They have three energetic boys (Matthew, Tyler, and Kyle) that attend the Ipswich School.Todd Hettich's term on the Ipswich School Board will expire in 2020.
Board Member Carol Pond
Carol Pond has served on the Ipswich School Board since 2011. She graduated from Ipswich High School, received her BS in Accounting from NSU and obtained her CPA license. She worked in Public Accounting and then as a Business Manager for 12 years before deciding to be a stay at home mom. Carol currently helps on the family farm, is a part time bond accountant for the First State Bank of Roscoe and continues to do volunteer bookwork for the organizations she is involved in. Carol and her husband, Noel, have four children, Megan, Cassius, Kristi and Benjamin.
Carol Pond's term on the Ipswich School Board will expire in 2019.
Board Member Kathy Bauer
Kathy Bauer was appointed to the Ipswich Board of Education on August 15, 2016. She graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1970 and received her BS in Education from Northern State University in 1973. She began her teaching career in the Ipswich Public School District in 1974. She taught Title Reading and Second Grade throughout her teaching career and retired in 2014. Kathy and her husband, David, have two children, Ryan and Melissa.
Kathy Bauer's term on the Ipswich School Board will expire in 2021.
Board Member Tadd Thorson
Tadd Thorson graduated from Aberdeen Central High School. He went on to NDSU to obtain a BSN in Nursing. He worked as an RN in Grand Forks, ND and in Aberdeen, SD until he went back to anesthesia school at St. Mary's University of Minnesota. He has worked as an anesthetist at Avera St. Luke's in Aberdeen since 2009. Tadd has served on several organizational boards at Avera St. Luke's and is a current board member of the Aberdeen Aqua Addicts water ski Team. He is married to Heather and has two children attending Ipswich school (Emily & Turner).
Tadd Thorson's term on the Ipswich School Board will expire in 2021.
